Located here at the confluence of three major river systems; the Illinois, Mississippi and Missouri rivers, the peninsula of Calhoun County has remained rural, even rustic, and one of the nation's most beautiful natural regions. Recently named as one America's great Scenic Byways, the valley offers many outstanding natural resources.

This weekend is filled with activities designed to increase our understanding of the Illinois River Valley and surrounding environment: nature studies, geological tour, and archeological investigation.
